An atomised Society is a society where people live as separate parts and individuals do not have much contact with each other. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are becoming a more atomised society with more people living alone and being more isolated from others.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interactions with others and relationships are so important for our mental and physical health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1984 was George Orwell’s dystopian novel. It was about control in every aspect of life.  This museum continues the theme of the number 4 by comparing uk life in 1994 to life in 2024.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This museum looks at how we have become more atomised and more isolated over the last 30 years. The idea might have been to create a perfect society,  but as you will see, the changes from 1994 to 2024 have led to an atomised and dystopian UK where people feel more solitary and segregated than ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People in the UK are now living in a world where the old ways of making & keeping relationships are more difficult. You can see from this graph that loneliness has hugely increased since 1994. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This museum explores some reasons why. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this museum, there are 7 rooms.  Each room explores how interactions and connections with others has changed from 1994 to 2024. These changes have led to us being detached, isolated and atomised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To go along with this website and each of the room topics, there is also a 16 minute documentary that you can see on You Tube.<\/p>\n\n\n
